Copper Tubes - Pressure Loss vs. Water Flow

Water flow and pressure loss (psi/ft) due to friction in copper tubes ASTM B88 Types K, L and M.

Water flow in copper tubes types K, L and M according ASTM B88 and pressure loss (major loss) due to friction:

Water velocity in copper tubes should not exceed 8 ft/s (2.4 m/s) for cold water and 5 ft/s (1.5 m/s) for hot water (up to approximately 140 oF, 60 oC). If water temperatures routinely exceeds 140 oF - don't exceed 2-3 ft/s (0.6-0.9 m/s).
